Reading:
Click on this link to access the Rainbow reading programme we use in school.https://my.cjfallon.ie/dashboard/student-resources/?levels=0&classes=0&subjects=0&serieses=0&booktitles=0&types%5B0%5D=Book+Sample
Under 'All Resources' click either 'Junior Infants' or 'Senior Infants', then 'English' and 'Rainbow Stage 1'.
Juniors then click the book 'New Friends' Please read the story 'Stuck' on pages 12-16 on Monday and Tuesday. Please note the following words are new: where, happy, mammy.
Click the book 'Fun at Home' and read pages 2-6 on Wed, Thurs and Friday. An adult should read the page first as there are lots of new words, putting their finger under the line to model good reading then the child can read after. Try to read this story 5 times to develop word recognition and fluency.
Seniors can view the book 'Magic in the Sky' and read the story 'Luke's Wobbly Tooth' on pages 2-9.

Maths
Juniors
Box of toys
Write numbers 1-5 (or higher if able) on paper (or simply
use a dice). Child picks a number and puts that amount of toys in the
box, next person picks a number and the child needs to either add or take away
toys to match the new number chosen. Lots of maths language here: add, take
away, too many, too few, how many more, same amount, enough, more, less.
Go Fish using dominoes. Choose number. Child has to
find a domino with that number (this encourages maths language as the number
can be just one side of the domino or both sides added together, the child has
to explain how the domino makes the number). This also helps children build
visual knowledge of number patterns.
Seniors
Adding using a number line.

register. Select Teacher. Fill in a username, email and password. For Roll
Number use the code: Prim20. This will give you access to our Planet Maths ebooks. Select the senior infants book and turn to pages 96, 97, 99, 100, 101, 102
Vocabulary: how many altogether? how many more do you need to make 10? count forward/backward, what is the missing number? what number comes before/after?
Gaeilge/ Music
If you have downloaded Bua na Cainte A(www.edco.ie/bua - username and password is trial) we are starting a new
topic ‘Sa Bhaile’, you can do 1 lesson (ceacht) each day. There are conversations,
games, songs and stories to listen to. Your own level of Irish does not matter,
this is a very child friendly programme.
Seniors: Please note: Seniors can either do the level above or Bua na Cainte B (same username and password) as we were doing the First Class programme in school but parts of it are too hard for Seniors so I swapped between the two books when needed.
If you are having trouble viewing the Bua na Cainte programme Folens have
made the Abair Liom programme available online. Simply click the link below and
type ‘An Teach’ into the search bar for the relevant lessons. This isn’t the
programme we follow but the vocabulary is the same.
Home School Hub on RTE is aimed at 1st-6th class but the Gaeilge lessons below are suitable for infants. It is good for them to hear the language spoken so these could be a good idea if parents are not comfortable speaking Irish.
The children already know a lot of the words and sentences used in the video below. You could stop the video after 10 minutes as infants do not read Irish so the last part of the video is too hard.
This video teaches the song 'In San Fhásach' (In the Jungle)
Aistear/ Art
Below are some more ideas for our Space Aistear topic:
An ebook about a boy's trip to space
Imagine you discovered a new planet. Draw a picture of it. What colour is it? What size is it? How many moons does it have? Who lives there? What is it made of? What do you call your new planet?
Imagine you are going to space. Can you list 10 things you would take with you in the rocket?
History
We were due to cover the topic 'Myself' in history. Talk to your child about important events in their lives e.g when they took their first steps, their favourite toys when they were a baby, etc. Show them photographs of yourself as a child and compare photographs, clothes worn and toys you played with.
Science/ Art
I'm sure you're all enjoying the garden in this nice weather. This month we would have been out in the school garden with Mrs. Magnier. We would also have been growing cress seeds in our classroom.
Encourage your child to choose a flower/ tree in the garden and draw it. You could also do some leaf/bark rubbings.
