Monday 27th April - Friday 1st May

Hello everyone!
This is our last week on our Space topic. Have a look at the Aistear section for some ideas to finish off our topic!

So far in Aistear we have covered - Houses, Doctor's Sugery, Potions Lab, Winter Wonderland, Santa's Workshop, Holidays, Under The Sea and Space. Our next topic is The Rainforest. I thought it would be nice if you helped me choose our last few topics before the end of the year so if you have any ideas ask Mum or Dad to email them to me or let me know on Seesaw and I'll choose the most popular (like what we do in school when we vote on our story book).

Have a lovely week everyone. Hopefully I'll see some of your lovely activities on Seesaw this week.

Tricky Words (both classes)
Here's some ideas for games to play to help learn your tricky words (Parents please choose some tricky words they know well, to develop their confidence in reading, and some they need to work on)

Photo from bookoola.com
You could play this outside using chalk rather than printing the template (or simply use a scrap of paper).

Idea from Fun Phonics on Facebook
Write words on a paper plate and use as a frisbee. Every time you catch the frisbee you have to read a word.
This picture shows CVC words (words that can be sounded out) but it's a lovely, easy to prepare activity for revising/ learning tricky words. And it gives you a break from the computer and develops your child's gross motor skills too. Win, win!

Writing (choose one of these activities)

Juniors:
Write a shopping list
Find things in the house that begin with the same letter as your name.
Skills Book A

Seniors:
Dictation sentences from last week (let me know if you need more).
Write a postcard/card/letter to someone you love.
Look at the pictures. Choose your favourite. What words pop into your head? Can you write 5 sentences about the pictures?

Senior Infants Phonics:

Revise last weeks sounds.

If there's any problem with Bua na Cainte you can use Abair Liom
Type Sa Bhaile into the search bar for relevant lessons.

Maybe you remember the dance to An DreoilĂn from school? If not just fast forward to 1:45 to jog your memory. Enjoy :)

Active Home Week

The World Health Organisation recommends children get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. I'm sure they're getting much more than that with this lovely weather. If you're looking for new activities and challenges to keep them entertained have a look at the ideas word cloud below.

And finally here's this week's scavenger hunt.

Have a wonderful week!
