Hi everyone.
I hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend and enjoyed the lovely weather.

Oral Language/ Art (Listening and Rhyming Skills)
Both classes
Read the poem slowly a few times to your child. Your child can join in with the rhyming words.
Discuss what you have learned about Sam from the descriptions.
Your child should listen carefully and draw the picture of Sam. (They don't need to get all the details correct, just a few keys ones that they remember e.g hair and eye colour.)

Green Giant
There lived a green giant whose name was Sam.
His hair was the colour of strawberry jam.
He had one brown and one blue eye,
And a beard the colour of pumpkin pie.
His coat and pants were oh so bright,
Like a peppermint stick, all red and white.
His shoes were as brown as a chocolate drop.
His stockings were yellow as lemon pop.
His hat was the colour of ginger bread
With a tall, tall feather of raspberry red.

Phonics
Juniors
Continue revision of 42 sounds, particularly any that seem to cause your child problems.

Here's a nice game to encourage them to think about what they read.
(There are 3 sounds in this that the children won't know - air, ear, igh- so just read these words for them).

Seniors
Long u sound on page 27 of Jolly Phonics Book 3 (Green).
(The ew sound is new for the children.)

Why was it your favourite day?
