Get a selection of coins - 1c, 2c, 5c- and ask children to sort them into groups.
How many 1c/2c/5c coins do you have?
Play shop at home- put price tags on toys and give children a small selection of coins. Ask children what coins they could use to pay for the toys.
*Please note: Money can be a tricky concept for children. Don't worry if they do not grasp it, it will be repeated a lot in Seniors and children will be using money during Aistear sessions throughout the year.

Making ice-cream
Join a science workshop to discover how ice cream was enjoyed 2000 years ago by the Romans long before electricity was discovered! A list of materials needed to participate in this fun experiment – easily obtained household items, will be advertised in advance of the broadcast. The video will be published on 13th June and remain available for 2 weeks. It will be up on Galway City Libraries Facebook page.
Children in Oranmore were asked to create art inspired by their local area. Perhaps this might inspire some children to do the same for Newcastle and Athenry.
Have you ever made a kite? It's great fun and really easy . All you need are some sticks, some newspaper, some string and a whole lot of imagination. Why not decorate in your favourite colours, or with pictures of your heroes ?
On the 13th of June you won’t have to leave the house to join a Céilí, you can have one right there in your own home. All you have to do is push back the kitchen table, put the chairs against the wall and you’re good to go.
