Hi everyone! Hope you had a lovely long weekend.
Literacy
Oral Language (both classes)
Activity 1:
Do you remember the story The Wonky Donnkey from school? There's a story version and a song version here.
Can you think of some new rhyming words to describe the Wonky Donkey?
They can be real or nonsense words, they just have to rhyme.
What words can you put in front of 'winky wonky donkey'?
Here's some of the words used in the book - stinky-dinky, lanky, honky-tonky.
You can send me your rhymes on Seesaw, I'd love to hear them.
Activity 2:
Can you find 8 differences in these pictures?

Tricky Words (both classes)
Here's some nice ideas to make learning tricky words fun.
1. Tricky Word Jenga: Please note it's better to write the words on sticky labels so they can be changed as your child's reading progresses.

You can see it on a map in this story:
Ask your mum or dad to read this book on the rainforest to you. It has lots of beautiful pictures and some new words. (Parents this website is also linked in the Extra Reading section above. Simply register for free at https://loving2read.com/ then follow this link.

Music
If you enjoyed In San Fhásach (In the Jungle) last week or even if you just need a little cheering up you'll love this.
SPHE:
Feelings: We talked about feelings in school. Have a look at the pictures below. Can you tell which feeling the children are showing?
This is a nice story that could be useful for the times we find ourselves in.
PE- Tennis skills
Indoor balloon tennis: You can play this game in so many ways: kick the balloon; hit it with one hand behind you back. See how many you can get the rally up to. It is great for developing hand-eye coordination. If you get really good try it with two balloons.
You could also use a couch or simply a line as a net.
If you have no tennis rackets you could always play tennis outside using your hand as a racket.

Art/ Fun Friday
This is one of my favourite art activities to do in school. Learn all about the wonderful Environmental Artist Andy Goldsworthy here:
And remember: Only use natural materials found in nature to create your art.
If you're looking for inspiration have a look at some of the art created by other classes who did this lesson. Some of you might even spot your older brothers and sisters in these photos.
